| In 1994, International Thunderbird Gaming Corporation was created to provide equipment and expertise to the rapidly growing Native American casino market. Original HQ in Vancouver, moved to California in 1998.
Primarily focusing on California, Thunderbird helped establish some of the most successful gaming operations in North America.
Thunderbird then looked towards emerging markets for its growth. The first operation was in Guatemala City, Guatemala. This facility opened in December 1997.
In 1998, Thunderbird was granted a 20 year administrative contract to operate 4 casinos in the Republic of Panama. This was the birth of the Fiesta Casinos brand, which to this day comprises the majority of the company's activity.
During the next few years, Thunderbird successfully opened dozens of gaming operations in the region including Aruba, Mexico, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Venezuela. In addition, the company gained a knowledge base for future development in the region. |
