Early licensed card room. Raided on 11/7/1938, three days after opening, although it reopened soon after. Its card room license was formally withdrawn 2/1/1939, but gambling continued later. John Caplis was charged 10/2/1940 for operating an illegal poker parlor at the same address (see "Archive").

T. R. King sold 3300 of these large crown chips in four colors to Hawthorne House, James Staten (and later John J. Caplis Sr.) 167 Hawthorne Boulevard, Hawthorne, California, between 1938 and 1942.
