The John S. McCain Ship Club, was located within the V. F. W. Hall, Ship 4851, 439 West Anaheim Street.

In September 1948, the Hall was raided by police with nine gambling arrests, including the hall manager charged with allowing a gambling game to be held on the premises. The Hall was again raided in October 1952, with Clarence E. Olson arrested for managing a gambling operation (a panguingue game). Chips and cash were confiscated (see "Archive").
