Per Jay Pike, these were supplied to cardrooms by C. W. Rice when the initial orders were delayed, so that gaming could commence. They were then returned to Rice when the actual chips were delivered. Note the compression marks on the R side, presumably made by a paper clip in place for some time. Collectors, never try to secure your chips by using paper clips!!!
