T. R. King sold 400 of these large crown chips in two denominations to Elby Smith, 919 21st Street, Sacramento, California in 1949. The address was Elby's home.

Elby Smith was a co-owner of the Cal-Vada Lodge (Lake Tahoe, NV). He also managed a "floating casino" in the Sacramento area, that was raided in 1954 at the Helvetia Club in Woodland. Gambling equipment was seized. (see "Archive").
