Ballard E. Barron, who lived at the Seal Beach Hotel, was involved in running several area gambling operations in the 1930s. In 1934 he ran games at the "Jewel City Inn" and in 1939 at the "Inter-City Athletic and Social Club" (both in Seal Beach).

He was co-founder and casino director of the Last Frontier Hotel when it opened in 1942. He died in 1954 (See Archive).

Mason & Co. sold 1000 of the black $5 hub mold chips to William Gleason and Mr. Ballard, Seal Beach Hotel, Seal Beach, California, on 9/13/1935.
