842 4th Avenue
San Diego, California
Type: Card Room
Status: Closed
Open: 1969, Close: 1974

Card room owned by William (Bill) Hirth and managed by Wilbur J. Gier, and later Joseph Foss. No evidence it was ever called the "842 Club". Previously "Bob's Card Room" was at this address (1960s), and before that "Fahey's Card Room" (1958-1960). It became "Bill's and Ken's Card Room" in 1974 and moved to 517 F Street (see "Archive").

T. R. King sold 1550 of these small crown chips in five denominations and one drink chip to Bill's Card Room, William Hirth, 842 4th Avenue, San Diego, CA, on 6/12/1969.

Listing (2nd from top) from the 1971 San Diego Yellow Pages, under "Card Rooms". Note that "Dick's Card Room" was directly across the street, and "Ed's Card Room " was on the same block.
