ChipGuide - A Catalog of Casino Chips and Collectibles
113 S. Washington Street
Sonora, California
Type: Card Room
Status: Closed
Open: 1954, Close: 1975

Owned by Edward (Ed) C. Moyle.

The bar and card room burned down in November 1975. The operators (Eugene and Jewell Day) of the nearby ”Gay Nineties Card Room”" were charged (and later convicted) with arson. Their apparent motive was the elimination of their card room competition. Moyle relocated his operation to the "Sonora Bowl" bowling alley (see Archive).

The attribution of the HHL-mold "FJ" hot stamp chips is traced to Eastman's Illustrated Guide to California Card Room Gaming Chips & Checks (1998).
