5200 Honpie Drive
Shingle Springs, California
Type: Indian
Status: Closed
Open: 11/1996, Close: 9/1997

Owned by the small 230 member Miwok tribe, and located on their 160-acre Shingle Springs Miwok reservation, located 35 miles East of Sacramento. The casino opened in November 1996, and closed before the end of the month. It reopened in April 1997 and closed in August 1997.

The casino was housed in a large white vinyl structure that resembled a circus tent. The Miwak tribe had hoped to offer "Class III" house banked games (such as slot machines) offered by other Indian casinos, but was limited by the state to offering bingo, and five tables of card games.

Photograph of the already closed casino from 12/29/1998 (The Sacramento Bee).
