In January 2009, a brand-new sign for El Sueño Casino and Hotel was erected in a graded lot, with the beginnings of a fence-line under construction. El Sueño was the dream of Beatty mogul, Ed Ringle. “El Sueño” is Spanish for “the dream”, and Ringle had an expansive dream when he began planning for the casino. It would be the first US casino to cater to Hispanic customers, and by the time the electric sign was erected, Ringle had already begun advertising to travel agencies in South America. He planned to build two, 500-room hotel towers, a water park and other attractions which would require a steady flow of tourists just to keep the “El Sueño” sign's lights on. Ringle's dream apparently stalled out. The 200 acres he purchased, today, mostly look like they have for a millennium. Some news accounts reported that construction was halted because Ringle had failed to obtain a building permit. Later news accounts retracted that theory. It is reported that TITO blanks may exists, but there are no chips, dice, playing cards or other gaming related items for this never constructed casino.
