The Royal Palms Motel Hotel opened in 1964 with a restaurant, bar, and dance hall. Owned by Don R. Jeffries. At some point, likely by 1967, he added a licensed card room. A separate entrance to the complex was sometimes listed as being at 276 Union Avenue. Also called the "Royale Palms Motel Hotel", "Royal Palms Casino" and the "Royale Palms Poker Cardroom".
