Sacramento, California
Type: Card Room
Status: Closed
Open: 1952, Close: 1970s

Bar and licensed card room owned by Alva F. Rich. The card room was held up during a poker game in 1953, with $4000 stolen from 13 players and the owner. Also sometimes spelled as the "Southside Club". Alva also owned "Rich's Card Club" (1959 - 1960s) and the "Villa Club", both in nearby Broderick, CA.

The attribution of the HHL-mold chips is traced to Armin Pfaender's California Chip Guide (2004), who credits Jim Rossi for the information. The Gaming Table (2017), however, identifies these HHL chips as having instead been used at the "Silver Saddle Club" (Morgan Hill, CA).

Listing (2nd from top) from the 1960 Sacramento City Yellow Pages, under "Card Playing Rooms". Note: the top listing is for Alva's card room in Broderick, CA.
