The club originally occupied the second floor at 149 Powell Street. Previously located at this address was the "Gruenwald Club", an incorporated private gaming club. In 1938, approximately 35 members were playing cards, when the Gruenwald establishment and patrons were robbed by three men at gun point, with $30,000 stolen.

Around 1946 the club moved to 57 Powell Street, and became the "57 Powell Club" (1946 - c. 1951).
