In 1928 the Montauk Island Club was built on Star Island in Lake Montauk. Access to the club was by a bridge built from the mainland. Guests of the manor dined and danced at the club, and during the Prohibition the Island Club served liquor and became a gambling casino. The Island Club, adjacent tot he Montauk Yacht Club, burned down in the 1980's.
