WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE SURFACE FINISHES ON CHIPCO CHIPS?

Linen
Surface is covered with a grid of tiny little bumps. |

Recessed
The opposite of linen. The surface is covered with a grid of tiny little indentions. |

Satin
The surface feels smooth to the touch and is covered with a very slight mottled texture.
This texture allows for much greater detail in the artwork. |

Slick
The surface is smooth, like glass. |
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN OPTICAL MIX AND PHYSICAL MIX?

Physical Mix
A physical mix is when you create colors by mixing them together before using them. |

Optical Mix
An optical mix is when you create colors not by physically
mixing them together, but through knowledge of color theory and how the eye perceives colors that abut or overlay each other.
This is often done by printing tiny dots of different colors close to each other causing the eyes to mix them. |
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SCV, LCV AND RHC?
In the picture above, the top chip is the LCV (long cane version) and the bottom chip is the SCV (short cane version).
If you look at the area on the left side of each hat and compare the difference between where the cane exits the hat and
where the brim starts, you see that there is much more space on the LCV than there is on the SCV. There are other
differences as well. The cane is longer on the LCV than on the SCV. The cane clearly extends below the brim of the hat on
SCV but doesn't on the LCV.
Directly above is an RHC chip.
The designs are right next to the edge of the chip and every 4th one is reversed with the cane pointing in the other
direction.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ROT AND LOT?
ROT stands for "Right On Top" and LOT stands for "Left On Top". It refers to the way the Diamond symbol is shown on some
of the Bud Jones mold chips.
 This is a LOT chip.
 This is a ROT chip.
As you can see, on the LOT chip, the left side of the diamond is the higher than the right side and on the ROT chip, the
right side is higher (on top) than the left side.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN "WITH SERIFS" AND "NO SERIFS"?
Serifs are the tiny embelishments added to letters to make them look fancy.
The chip above has serifs. Note the little extras on the ends of the letters.
The chip above is without serifs. Note how plain the letters look.
