| In the golden age of the casinos (1930 to 1946), all the hydromineral resorts in the south of Minas Gerais explored two branches of tourism: gambling and healing by mineral waters.
In all the mineral resorts like Caxambu, São Lourenço, Águas de Contendas , CAMBUQUIRA, Lambari, Araxá and Poços de Caldas, the game boiled and was a primordial component of the functioning of the baths. being the latter Poços de Caldas the busiest and most important.Like the other cities of the region, the discovery of mineral water sources gave the necessary push so that, as early as 1872, the Arraial de Cambuquira was founded. On May 12, 1911 came the municipality of São Sebastião de Cambuquira, that would become city in 1925, reducing its denomination to Cambuquira. Cambuquira was one of the first projected cities of Minas. Its Park of Waters brings together 5 sources of different characteristics whose medicinal powers have been widely proven .. The city also knew the buzz and movement of the famous in the first half of the XX Century, when the casinos were in high. From that time on, several buildings still adorn the city, a memory of glamorous nights, where in a minute one earned a lot or lost everything. |
