| The Caxambu spa has been operating since the mid-nineteenth century. The granting of exploitation of water was allocated in 1875. In 1901 the village of Caxambu was created, and since then the village experienced a great prosperity.
João Carlos Vieira Ferraz organizes the Companhia Palace Hotel and Casino João Carlos ,which issued shares, managed to build the Palace Hotel, which opened on 16 January 1892. The hotel was for more than a decade considered the largest in Brazil. It was built in neo-classical style, imposing and luxurious. Immediately had guaranteed a large turnout of distinguished guests, giving them a first-class service, inclusive transport by diligence from large nearby towns. Had in its facilities a casino. officially the gambling in the casino ended in 1946 with the banning of the gambling in Brazil. According to some records the gambling in hotels Caxambu casinos will run from an irregular shape by a lot more years.
The hotel has changed owners several times, working today with the glamor of the 40s.
