The Hotel Casino was designed in 1936 with an area of implementation of 1075m2. The construction ended in 1939. The gambling in Brazil was allowed in 1934 by President Getulio Vargas. Until 1946 it worked as the l Hotel Casino. The casino closed in 1946 with the banning of the gambling in Brazil. It was an important point of the tourism in Foz do Iguaçu and continued to function only as a hotel since 1946. The hotel, built by the state government, was the most chic place of Foz do Iguaçu, hosting prominent members of the artistic and political life, especially the Presidents of Brazil, Getulio Vargas and Juscelino Kubitschek. With the opening of Hotel das Cataratas, the hotel has lost some of its importance .Today the building runs a Senac hotel school.
