The casinos ( brazilians use the term cassinos) arrived in Brazil during the Empire and were attended even by the Emperor D.Pedro II. With the establishment of the republic in 1917 went underground.In 1934 President Getulio Vargas allowed the reopening of casinos.By decree of 30 April 1946, the government of President Marechal Dutra ordered the closure of casinos. Then 71 casinos were closed all over Brazil. The company Monte Serrat was founded by Spanish emigrants to operate as a casino, which opened in 1927. The casino was located on Monte ( mount) Serrat,being the access made by a funicular. After the banning of the game 1946, the casino closed and the company continued to operate in the areas of tourism and transport. Continues to transport people to the mount by a funicular that ends in the casino building.
