Casino Español is the name of several social institutions of the Spanish emigrants in several countries, mainly in South America.
Casino Español de Iquique was founded on March 26, 1890 under the name of "La Estudantina Española". This recreational association functioned as a meeting place, convivial and fun for the Spanish community.
It adopted the name Casino Español in the following year, with statutes approved on January 31, 1892. The initial building soon turned out to be small, and its own building was inaugurated on July 10, 1904. The building had a restaurant, meeting and living rooms, large billiards room, games room etc.
The building with Arabian Andalusian decoration is considered one of the most beautiful buildings in Chile. |
