This recreational was formed in 1866. The palace Club de Setiembre, where the club was installed, was built in 1888.In the club, the gambling was allowed until 1935, when the new president of the club,ordered the abolition of the gambling , and not content with ban destroyed the tables.
In 1950, economic problems led to replacement lease for the property. Tailors, dressmakers, hairdressers and even ran a restaurant inside. In 1971, in absolute decline, demolition order was given by the regulador.However,
the Ministry of Foreign Affairs acquired the property in 1973 and the palace became its Diplomatic Academy.The palace is a National Monument and known as Palacio Edwards or Palacio Club de Setiembre
