The race track opened in 1938. The casino, with a 1940s-era Art Deco design, was added in July 1994. At the time it was the country's only card club located at a race track, and bets on some of its horse races could be placed from within the casino. This was unusual, as sports betting is typically illegal in California card rooms. The race track closed in 2013.
In 2016, the casino moved into a new 40% larger casino facility next door to the old one. It was licensed for 125 poker and table games.
