Owned by Elmer “Bones” Remmer, represented by the "ER" on the chips. Legendary gamblers such as Nick the Greek and Ty Thompson (the inspiration for Sky Masterson in Damon Runyon's Guys and Dolls) played for high stakes at the Menlo Club. Jack Ruby, Lee Harvey Oswald's assassin, worked at the club in the 1940s, along with his two sisters, who were card dealers. It was raided in 1932 and 1934, and for a last time in 1948, with over 75 gamblers and 14 club employees arrested (See "Archive").

Taylor & Co. sold 10,000 of the T-mold chips to Remmer on 7/21/1947.

Listing from 1942 San Francisco Yellow Pages, under "Associations" (Library of Congress). Photo of an interior room of the club from 4/29/1948, taken during a raid (San Francisco Examiner, Courtesy of the Bancroft Library).
