The Vitoriano Circle was born on May 31, 1864, at the same time that the railway arrived in Vitoria.
It was founded in 1864 by a group of liberals, and was born with the dual purpose of constituting a recreational and cultural center. The initiative attracted people from Vitoria from commerce and industry, professionals from liberal careers and education, people from the military and some of those who described themselves as rentiers. The cultural activity went hand in hand with the creation of recreation rooms, mainly dedicated to board games and billiards in its different forms.
