| In the early 1920s, Lake Montigny-en-Gohelle was built as a true center of tourism and sports attractions.The lake was created at the initiative of the mayor of the town at the time, which benefited from a basin of water as a result of mining subsidence to turn it into a center of tourism and sports attractions .
