From "Les Cercles de Paris 1828-1864, Charles Yriarte 1868". Source www.gallica.bnf.fr. "The Whist has long been the preferred game. Next was the piquet, not in other games excluded. Today's gambling is calmer. However recently there was a match between two young members, being the bet reached 50,000 francs. The pool also has a lot of success, having the club the strongest players in Paris."
