The casino is settled at Pontaillac beach,made a tourist resort in 1850 and
popular very quickly by the rich vacationers, and gradually, luxury hotels and villas structured summer's finest neighborhoods in Royan.
Pontaillac host in 1880 a coffee shop"La Restauration", that was replaced in 1902 by the third gambling house of Royan in a building constructed of wood, on piles in the center of Conche.
In 1930, the "Sporting Casino Pontaillac" replaces "The Restauration" that has become obsolete. The building still in place, this time presents a typical architecture of 30´s years. He became the place as "select" Royan.
Lucien Barrière obtained in 1986 the concession to Pontaillac Casino and allows the facility to find a new youth ( casino site).

1st Casino de Foncillon -Royan city was in booming when it decided to built the first casino , that was opened in 1845. This casino had a form of a neo-classic building, surrounded by gardens. The casino became too small, and was replaced in 1885 by the 2nd Casino de Foncillon, located a few yards away. In 1927 the building was converted into the Town Hall, which was destroyed during the bombardment of 1945.

2nd Casino de Foncillon - it was built in the period 1882-1885, characterized by a neo-baroque architecture. The main façade ,facing the sea, was flanked by two towers topped by a dome. The casino had a gambling room, restaurant and a great ballroom, and was completely destroyed during the bombardment of 1945.

Casino Municipal- In 1895, the Municipality decide to create a new casino in the city center. Five months after the first stone, the casino was inaugurated, settled at the beachfront ( Grande Conche beach).It was considered one of the most beautiful French casinos, and was the largest casino in France in that time. It was destroyed by bombs in 1945.

Casino Claude Ferret . Claude Ferret was one of the architects that cooperate in the reconstruction of Royan, devastated by bombing in 1945.He made the desgn for a casino with bold lines, combining glass and reinforced concrete. Opened in 1960, the casino was demolished in 1985.
