As one of the main resorts of the Austro -Hungarian Empire , Merano is home to a casino since the beginning of the twentieth century.The Great War ( 1914-1918) , however, involves the closure of the casino. The Casino di Merano starts to work on April 15, 1939 , but the Second World War also requires a second closing in October 1940.After the war, the authorization for the exercise of gambling is granted and the Casino of Merano back to work from 20 December 1945 until 23 June 1946 , when the government decided to close all the casinos (except Casino of Venice, Saint Vincent , San Remo and Campione ) . |
