From 1884 to 1914 , under license of the Sub-Prefect of Sanremo , was the first Casino d ' Italy , The casino was settled at Villa Sultana , a spectacular building with three domes with garden of about ten thousand square meters . Villa Sultana , with the opening of the casino , was frequented by the best society of the time , and was home to concerts, dinners and gambling. La Belle Epoque has, however, short-lived and the closure of Villa Sultana in 1926 is one of the symbols of its end. Worst thing happened to former Casino during the Second World War , when it became accommodation for German and Italian troops . From the fifties onwards, begins an unstoppable degradation of Villa Sultana |
