The Dreamward was built in France in 1992 for Norwegian Cruise Lines. She has a handsome, though somewhat tall profile. She broke from tradition by offering three, different dining rooms, plus an alternative “bistro”, all uniquely different in size, décor, and ambiance. Some are designed to provide excellent views of the sea, while others, for intimate, romantic dining. Assignment is by luck of the draw. Everyone has the opportunity to enjoy the dining room of their choice for Breakfast and Lunch dining. She also differs from most modern cruise ships by not providing boarding passengers with the, now traditional, breathtaking entranceway through a Grand Atrium. Passengers, instead, board through a rather plainly designed “entrance hall”. NCL apparently believes, “first impressions” are NOT everything! Dreamward is 39,217 tons. 623.3 feet long. 93.5 feet wide with a 22.3 foot draft. She is registered in the Bahamas with Norwegian Officers and an International Crew. She is diesel powered. In 1998 she was lengthened at Lloyd Werft in Bremerhaven, Germany and received her current name, Norwegian Dream. |
