Automobile club founded in the beginning of 20th century in Palermo, Sicily.
Sicily had for long time one the most known automobile race in the world.
The Targa Florio was the world´s last classic road race, Initiated in 1906, stopped in 1974 after having been held 54 previous times. The Targa Florio was the idea of Vincenzo Florio, a member of one of the most wealthy families in the island of Sicily.
Vincenzo Florio was President of Automobile Club di Sicilia, in Palermo, organizer of most of the races.
The Targa Florio ( the Florio plate) was run over circuit in the Sicilian mountains.
