On 17 December 1975, the Dutch government officially issued the only casino licence in the country to De Nationale Stichting tot Exploitatie van Casinospelen (the National Foundation for Exploitation of Casino Games), or Holland Casino. To this day, Holland Casino is the only gaming provider with a casino licence in the Netherlands.

Clemens Briels has created five works of art especially for Holland Casino. His inspiration was derived from five different operas in which a game of chance was a leitmotif.
Each painting is represented in a limited edition of chips.
Art stimulates the imagination. The artist takes the viewer along into an imaginary world full of events and colour. Add to that the excitement of casino games, and you´ve got a special combination. Because the game also stimulates the imagination.
