CTC Cruise Line disappeared as a company after their charter of the Southern Cross ended in 1997. The Southern Cross was sold to Festival Cruises in 1997, and they went defunct in 1998. It is now with a Spanish cruise line named Travelplan under the name "New Flamingo". CTC's last two (2) ships were the Kareliya and the Southern Cross. The Kareliya is today the Hong Kong based casino ship "Neptune". These ships were originally built as cruise/ferries for the Soviet Union for passengers and automobiles navigating ports around the Black Sea. They had rather crude accommodations by today's standards and the fleet of five (5) vessels were ultimately sold off to cruise lines under various flags in the 1990's following the collapse of the Soviet Union.
