T. R. King originally sold several thousand of these large crown chips in six colors to Joe Shapiro and Joseph Kaleel, Los Angeles, California, between March 1945 and 1948. T. R. King later sold 1400 more of these chips to Allied Studio Rentals in 1955.
Joseph A. Kaleel was arrested in November 1945 during a gambling raid on a cafe and social club at 125 North La Brea Avenue, Los Angeles, California, where a dice table, dice, and evidence of bookmaking were found. Kaleel was arrested again on bookmaking charges in 1946, and again on gambling charges in 1948 (see "Archive"). |
