| In the XIX century Font Romeu does not exist. In 1903 were built the first cabins in the forest. The Grand Hotel was inaugurated on July 20, 1913. The advertising built around the Grand Hotel , very requested by the bourgeois society, says Font Romeu as “ the most beautiful resort of Europe”. The comfort of the Grand Hotel, with 200 rooms, leaves nothing to envy to the great capitals: party room, CASINO, theater, cinema, etc.
Closed during First War.
In January 17, 1920, publication of a decree authorizing the opening of the gambling at Grand Hotel Casino ( authorization to open December 15 to March 15 and from June 1 to September 30).
Everything is interrupted by the outbreak of WWII. Reopened in 1945.
In 1954 is opened the CASINO MUNICIPAL, that is open continuously until today (2012). In 1987 TAHOE Group took the control of the casino. |
