The first licence allowed the Casino openning on 1st May 1949. After a few further delays, gaming finally began on 3rd June 1949.The casino was owned by Casino Travemünder Glücksburg GmbH. The Travemünde Casino also acquired a legendary reputation with its "La Belle Époque" night-club on the top floor, which featured dance shows, revue stars and artistic performances. A hiatus occurred in 1982 when the "Neue Casino Travemünde GmbH & Co" was founded. The regional parliament amended the casino gambling law in 1996. This paved the way for the change in ownership in October 1997. On expiry of the licence the operation in Travemünde was taken over by Spielbank SH GmbH. Travemünde Casino is nowadays owned by Spielbanken Schleswig-Holstein ( 5 casinos). All the S S-H casinos uses similar chips with the designation Casino Schleswig-Holstein,but the casinos also use chips under their own name. After 200 years the casino era ends. The Casino Travemunde was closed from August 7, 2012
