The two buildings that make up this resort have had an enormous number of names.
The main north wing was originally designed by architect Morris Lapidus in 1960 as the Ponce de Leon Hotel. It was soon after renamed the San Jeronimo Hilton, then later the Helio Isla. The south wing was originally built in the late 1960s as the Flamboyan Hotel and Casino.
In 1977, the two wings were joined into one hotel connected by a skywalk over the road, the Condado Holiday Inn Resort & Sands Casino. The property was renamed the Condado Plaza Hotel & Casino in the late 1980s. It became the Wyndham Condado Plaza Hotel & Casino in the 1990s. It joined the Hilton chain in 2011 as the Conrad San Juan Condado Plaza Hotel, then was moved to the Hilton division in 2013 as The Condado Plaza Hilton.
As of 2022, it is the Hilton Condado Plaza, no casino.
