The building of the Casino da Praia was built on the initiative of José de Freitas Reis in 1873. The King D.Luís I authorized that same year, the creation of the Casino da Praia at the entreaty of a committee, primarily made up of elements of the nobility. Built on the former bastion of the battery, the Casino opens its doors in the year 1873, although not yet completed. Initially, also known as Club, becomes the favorite meeting place of the aristocracy and g who attend Cascais beach (where the royal family summered). Open from early morning, one lives there, listening to music, reciting and gambling. The prize-giving ceremonies of the races under the aegis of the royal family, as well as their dances foreclosure, were held there. With the legalization of gambling in 1927, finished the gambling at this casino. The building of Casino da Praia was demolished in 1945.
