Seaside resort very popular in the 1900s, his heyday ended after WWII.
Veulettes became known Veulettes sur Mer in 1937.
The first casino was built in the 1870´s, on the beach. It was destroyed by a storm in 1919
The reconstruction of the casino was decided in 1920, near the cliff Catelier. It would be destroyed by German troops during WWII., as being a strategic point.
. Le Catelier is a cliff just behind the casino : 2,000 years ago it hosted a broad gallo-roman oppidum. Jetons in euro currency show a Roman head in the center.
The current building dates from 1956, made with the sandstones of the Notre Dame du Bon Port of Saint Valery en Caux. One can see the arms of the village decorating the casino façade.
Post-war period : 1956-2012
The Société du Casino de Veulettes sur Mer was formed in 1968 to run the casino.
It is independent. |
