THE BEAR CLAW WAS THE FIRST INDIAN CASINO OPENED IN SASKATCHEWAN AND WAS OPENED WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM THE GOVERNMENT. IT SUFFERED SEVERAL POLICE RAIDS, AND FORCED SHUT DOWNS. BUT FOUGHT ON AND REOPENED IN 1996 AND PAVED THE WAY FOR INDIAN GAMING IN SASKATCHEWAN.
