The Stray Antlers Club in McGill was not a BPOE lodge but was a club for BPOE members in McGill who were "Stray Elks."
In the 1910-20's the mining industry in McGill attracted people from all over.
A lot of the people who came to McGill were Elks and they created the Stray Antlers Club.
The nearest lodge was in Ely, NV and if anyone in McGill wanted to be initiated into the BPOE it was apparently handled by Ely. At its inception, the majority of the members of the club were from Ogden, Utah.
In September 1925 they opened a clubhouse. It was one story structure with a basement. In the basement was a card room (room for 8 tables). Basement also had a billiard room. |
