In the late nineteenth century the block Cap Croix-Cimiez was a Nice surroundings. The couple Ascot Léa and her husband the "Count" Gabriel Lafrange rented in the zone a property, creating a farm "La Ferme Bretonne" where the families came to the weekend sightseeing and sample the produce - milk, cheese, etc.
The couple joined a French trader to create a zoo garden. The garden was immediately a hit, attracting tourists and the Nice bourgeoisie. The "Count" dies in 1893, the same year that the company installed a train to take customers from Nice.
In 1898 Léa becomes the only owner of the enterprise , installing a restaurant and a casino. In 1905 it declared the bankruptcy of the enterprise. The zoo is sold together with the animals, which disperse.
