First known as Harrah's Shreveport, the hotel was purchased in 2004 by Boyd Gaming from Harrah's Entertainment. Harrah's sold this casino after acquiring Horseshoe Gaming Holding Corporation.
The casino opened under Boyd's Sam's Town brand on May 20, 2004. This is the 4th casino under the Sam's Town name. |

"ESTABLISHED 1962", When Boyd Gaming opened Sam's Town in Shreveport, the casino issued a three-coin commemorative, gold-colored set of tokens in a black satin box. The three coins have two dates, One when Boyd started in casino business and other the opening day at the Shreveport casino. Face features BOYD GAMING Logo & multi-story hotel on the reverse.
