Jim's Place Bar opened in the 1940s, and it was granted a cardroom license in February 1961. William E. Ragland, Jr was the card room manager in the 1960s.

T. R. King sold 3100 of these chips in four denominations to Jim's Place, 430 Clovis Ave, Clovis, California between 1962 and 1965. The attribution of the "JV" Di-Sq-mold chips and ZigZag-mold "JVS" chips is traced to Pfaender (2013).
