Burnie Lesperence, Eagle Inn, Chips ordered in 1928. This was taken from the June 30, 1947 Deadwood Pioneer newspaper. “Lighting Gambling Raid Closes Tables” Raided simultaneously were the Gold Bar, Buffalo, Bodega Old Style and Eagle Inn. Facing gambling charges in court were: C. A. Philips manager of the Gold Bar, and operators E. Cole, Jack McCarle, Tom Williams, and Jerry Eskey, C. H Reed manage of the Bodega, and operators Walt H. Dowling. , Larry Russell manager of the Buffalo Bar, and operators Walter Eilbeck, Walter Lowe, John Beshara, and Russell Rineveld, and Joe Johnson F.L. Bangs manager of the Eagle Inn and operators Ole Sorenson, Glen Pruitt, Jimmie James and John Rueb . Stewart Donovitz manager of the Old Style, and operators Virgil Rakestraw, Orlie Zeiler, C. T. Hackler and Dave Mills Equipment confiscated included roulette, dice and black-jack tables.
