| The history of Villajoyosa casinos is somewhat confusing. The CASINO COSTA BLANCA was opened in 07.16.1979. and was repossessed by the Valencian Government in 1997, due to taxes debt of the casino company. In 1999, a new group ( Casinos del Mediterraneo/Acrismatic) obtained the gambling license ant the possession of the casino premises. The new company has continued the business under the name CASINO ROYAL PALM. With the advent of the Euro, they changed the name to CASINO MEDITERRANEO .
The gambling rooms of the three casinos were situated in the same building, althougt the several renovations that were made.
Later three more casinos , with the same name, CASINO MEDITERRANEO, were opened in Alicante province ( Torrevieja, Alicante and Orihuela).
Casino Mediterraneo- Vllajoyosa, was closed due the opening of Casino Mediterraneo at Alicante.
Belong to the ACRISMATIC GROUP (SPAIN) that owns (ed) four casinos in the Province of Alicante . Casino Mediterráneo Alicante (Opened 1999) Casino Mediterráneo Torrevieja (Opened May 2004. Closed March 2013) Casino Mediterráneo Orihuela (Opened March 2013) Casino Mediterráneo Benidorm (Opened July 2014) All the casinos use the same Chips even the 5 € chip that carries the inscription of INAUGURACIÓN TORREVIEJA (currently closed). |
